Conservation
Detection
Dog
His paws touched not only the deck during seafaring adventures but also the red volcanic earth in Hawaii, where he worked as a conservation detection dog on a wind farm. With a keen sense of smell and specialized training, he was employed for the specialized task of detecting and locating endangered avian casualties resulting from collisions with wind turbine blades, which included the island's only native terrestrial mammal, the endangered Hawaiian hoary bat. Ollie's role helped conservationists and researchers efficiently and accurately assess the impact of wind energy infrastructure on bird populations. His contributions aided in implementing mitigation measures and shaping strategies to minimize avian fatalities, thereby contributing to sustainable wind energy practices.

Breed Ambassador
Ollie, with his calm demeanor and comprehensive training, played a significant role in the classroom. Through his interactions, he shared valuable insights, teaching children how to build positive connections through understanding canine body language. Ollie impacted numerous lives with his boundless spirit, super sniffer, and affable nature, leaving a lasting and profound impression.
May his legacy serve as a source of inspiration, prompting others to embrace kindness, compassion, and empathy towards all living beings. May it further ignite a shared commitment to cherishing and safeguarding the wonders of our planet, fostering environmental stewardship for generations to come.
